THE FIRM AND ITS PRACTICE

The law firm of PASTER, WEST & KRANER, p.c. was established in 1980 to concentrate in the area of real estate law. Our firm’s legal practice encompasses virtually all facets of the commercial and industrial real estate industry, including acquisitions, dispositions and exchanges; construction, management, and brokerage activities; development; financing; loan restructuring; and condominiums. Our clients include a broad range of institutional and individual investors, users, developers, brokers, lenders, and contractors. The transactions that our firm handles are generally large in size and complex in nature. Our firm prides itself on providing superior legal work to our clients in a cost-effective manner. We are also proud of our reputation as a firm where service to our clients is paramount and where all of our attorneys are skilled and experienced in facilitating and closing transactions.

FIRM PHILOSOPHY

PASTER, WEST & KRANER, p.c. was formed by attorneys who felt there was an attractive alternative to a large firm practice for both attorneys and clients. Our firm was formed on the premise that a small group of qualified attorneys could provide superior legal services in the field of real estate law to sophisticated clients. The members of our firm believe that this premise has proven to be true.

Our firm prides itself on consistently providing timely and first-quality legal service to its clients, without the “big-firm shuffle.” We have created an informal yet professional environment in which attorneys work together in close cooperation with our clients to resolve legal problems in a manner that is responsive to our client’s needs. Our attorneys take pride in the emphasis that our firm places on the attorney’s role as a counselor and advisor. It is typical for our firm to provide strategic advice and structural analysis to our clients. Our firm’s involvement in a project generally begins in the formative stages and continues through to its conclusion. Although our firm’s work is largely transactional in nature, most of our clients have longstanding relationships with our firm.

SCOPE OF SERVICES

Our firm’s practice encompasses a broad spectrum of services in the real estate area, including the acquisition, management and disposition of real estate; the development of retail, multi-family, medical, office and office/warehouse properties; the drafting and negotiation of leases; the negotiation, documentation and closing of construction, interim and permanent loans; the implementation of “like-kind” exchanges; and condominium work.

We deliberately do not provide legal services in the fields of litigation, general commercial law and many other specialty fields traditionally practiced by a large law firm. When clients of PASTER, WEST & KRANER, p.c. require legal services that our firm does not provide, we play an active role in suggesting and, in some cases, working with those attorneys in other firms who are best qualified to provide the services our clients require, at a price and on terms that are consistent with our clients’ needs.

PROFESSIONAL EXPERTISE AND DEVELOPMENT

Our lawyers expand their skills by participating in continuing legal education seminars and programs sponsored by law schools, bar associations and private organizations, as well as by focusing significant work time in their area of specialization. Our ability to serve our clients’ needs is strengthened by commitment to a continuous learning process.
